The exhibition is divided into two blocks.

In every block there are:


  • Golden Prize - money gift in the amount of 15 000 RUB, a gift in the form of art materials provided by sponsors, and an exhibition catalogue.

  • Silver Prize - money gift in the amount of 5 000 RUB, a gift in the form of art materials provided by sponsors, and an exhibition catalogue.

  • Bronze Prize - money gift in the amount of 5 000 RUB, a gift in the form of art materials provided by sponsors, and an exhibition catalogue.

  • Two artworks will get honorary mention of the Judge of Awards, a gift in the form of art materials provided by sponsors, and an exhibition catalogue.


The winners will be declared on the website and social networks of National Pastel Society of Russia.
There will also be a printed catalogue with the artworks of all the participants of the exhibition.




Artworks for the exhibition are selected by a special committee, which includes the following artists:

Elena Tatkina – graphic artist, teacher. Vice-president and co-founder of NPS, Art producer and CG Art director.

Ruben Belloso Adorna (Spain) – pastel artist, winner of many national and international awards.

Dawn Emerson (USA) – artist, teacher, author of many pastel techniques, author of the book “Pastel Innovations: 60+ Techniques and Exercises for Painting with Pastels”.


The Judge of Awards, who decides on the winners of Block I –

Elena Nenastina – artist, teacher, author of the book "The structure of the visual form of space and methods of its organization".
Awarded the honorary Russian Federation government distinction of ‘Distinguished Artist of the Russian Federation’; winner of the silver medal of Russian Academy of Arts, the silver medal of Russian Artists Association, the diploma of Russian Academy of Arts and other awards.


The Judge of Awards, who decides on the winners of Block II –

Vladislav Tatarinov – artist, teacher. Vladislav has been painting for over 25 years. He works with pastels and oil.
Member of Russian Artists Association and National Pastel Society of Russia.



  • Pastel artists from Russia and other countries, who are members of NPS with valid full or associate membership status at the time of the exhibition, can take part in the exhibition.

  • Age of participants must be over 18.

  • Jurors and their relatives cannot compete for prizes, but they can show their paintings out of competition.

The exhibition is divided into two blocks.


Block I – for Master-pastelists of NPS, Experienced artists of NPS and active members with 6 or more points for previous NPS events. You can check your status on our website.



Block II – for pastel artists with fewer than 6 points and artists without the status of Experienced artist of NPS.




  • The participation fee is 1000 RUB for the first painting and 300 RUB for every following painting. 

  • Every artist is free to submit up to 5 paintings. In case of artwork selection maximum three paintings per artist take part in Block I and only one painting per artist takes part in Block II.

  • The participation fee must be paid no later than 18 September 2021. The fee is paid while sending the application. If artworks are not selected for participation, the fees are not refunded.

  • In case of failure to deliver selected painting within deadline, the fees are not refunded.

  • Fill an electronic application form for every painting at Competizer.ru : Block I, Block II.

  • Upload the photo of your painting after making sure it meets all the requirements below.

  • Pay the participation fee and activate application.


Please follow these instructions carefully when preparing images of paintings:


  • The painting must be photographed without a frame, passepartout, or foreign objects.

  • Only JPG and JPEG files are accepted.

  • The image size must be 1200-2200 pixels on the larger side.

  • The files must be 300 dpi.

  • The file size must be maximum 10 MB.

  • It is not allowed to use profanity in the name of the painting.

  • Diptychs and triptychs are not accepted.

  • You are free to choose any theme of your painting.


You can apply from 1 July 2021 to 18 September 2021.
On 27 September 2021 the artists will be notified of the selection results by email.


There will be a printed catalogue, featuring one artwork (at the organizer’s option) per every participant of the exhibition.


Attention! Failure to comply with the image size and image density requirements might lead to the removal of painting from the catalogue as non-corresponding to printing standards.


The author, by participating in the exhibition, gives his or her consent to the exhibition organizer to use the image for non-commercial purposes to promote the ideas of the exhibition without payment of royalties. At the same time, the author retains the exclusive copyright to the image, both during the exhibition and after its completion.



  • Artwork must be created with soft pastels (chalk pastel). Presence of other material must be no more than 20%.

  • Artwork created with oil pastels are not allowed to participate. 

  • Paintings must be original. It is prohibited to copy artwork and published materials made by other people. Every participant must guarantee, that his or her painting does not infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties. In case of a claim from third parties the participant takes full responsibility for his artwork. In case of conflict situations the painting is removed from participation in the exhibition and is deprived of awards. 

  • Artwork must be created by the author from beginning to end manually, without using any digital or photomechanical techniques.

  • Paintings must have been created during the last three years.

  • Nude paintings are allowed to participate. The organizer has the right to refuse admission if the artwork can be regarded as immoral.

  • Paintings created with a teacher, at a workshop or with the help of on-line demos or tutorials are not allowed to participate.

  • Paintings that have previously participated in NPS exhibitions are not allowed.

  • The painting size must be maximum 120 cm on the larger side.

  • The minimum size of the painting is not set.


Failure to comply with any of the above requirements may result in the artwork not being admitted. The organizer has the right to refuse participation if the picture violates human rights or the laws of the Russian Federation.

Attention! For copying other people's works, copyright infringement, or submitting paintings made under the guidance of a teacher, the participant is denied the opportunity to take part in NPS exhibitions for 1 year, including the following exhibition in December.





  • The use of museum glass is desirable, but not mandatory. You can use plastic instead of glass.

  • Frames should be neutral in color and shape.

  • Passepartout for paintings has to be in shades of white, gray or black.

  • You can frame your painting yourself or ask for our help with framing in the application form.

  • The cost of framing (including glass and frame) for certain sizes will be indicated after artwork selection.


The picture submitted to the exhibition must match the digital image, uploaded at the time of the application. Otherwise, the organizer may refuse participation.


NPS is not responsible for loss or damage to the picture or frame during delivery, hanging and display. The space we rent for the exhibition is secured and equipped with security cameras. The exhibition supervisor is present in the gallery during the exhibition.




  • Participants will get information about artwork delivery to the exhibition and back via e-mail.

  • The artist himself pays for the delivery and packaging of paintings to and from the exhibition.





  • We welcome artwork not from private collections so that we can put them up for sale. If your work is not for sale, please let us know in advance. 

  • The organizer charges a 25% commission on the sale of works.

  • Payment to the artist will be made within a month after the sale of the painting.



Every participant of the exhibition gets 1 point (see the description of the NSP membership levels on the website in the corresponding section).
The winners of the exhibition who get Golden, Silver or Bronze Prizes, as well as the honorable mention of the Judge of Awards, receive an additional 1 point.

No additional points are awarded for other prize categories.

The maximum possible number of points received in the exhibition is 2.
